Contemporarey Art in Contemporay living
Printed Wall Art Images
Author: Karl Guevara
A striking and impressive way to bring an empty wall space alive is to display printed wall art. This form of art is becoming a unique and contemporary way to provide a room with natural images. The variations available are immense and cover virtually any subject or theme to suit both individual needs and the rooms style of decor.
One of the advantages of using printed wall art to cover walls spaces is the availability to have the enlarged images broken down into different sections. This offers alternative ways to hang the prints as well as hanging them in the latest block approach. Blocks of three or four images which when positioned in order close to each other provides the illusion of a far greater image and wall space covering while retaining the main focus of the picture. With advances in technology photographic images can be successfully transformed into works of art covering a whole host of different topics.
Popular scenes of from the United States in black and white make a real statement, these printed wall art images are also available in night scenes with the street lighting bringing the images alive. This style of wall art is ideal for contemporary living as it provides a printed wall art which offers a real alternative design concept from traditional prints.
For a minimalist look printed wall art for natural cloud formations are a great way to bring the natural world inside a home. These images are uplifting to the mind and brighten the moods on the dullest of days.
People's love of animals has been used effectively in the printed wall art range which is available, rare and endangered wild life species in their natural habitat offer stunning wall art displays. Underwater scenes of dolphins swimming against oceanic blues are truly amazing and would look superb displayed on bathroom walls. Rooms which get can become hot and stuffy also benefit from these refreshing images, merely looking at them can provide the illusion of real time cool blue seas!
One of the most popular printed wall art designs available are images of flowers which have been enlarged to super sizes, these offer a real alternative from conventional floral pictures. Individual parts of the flower blooms cover the canvas and highlight the delicate flower parts. These look incredibly stunning when a white background is used and the vibrancy of the flower's natural colours is shown. A creamy white Cala lily against a white background offers a truly dramatic effect, the only colour seen is the merest hint of the green stem. This clean, crisp image looks effective when hung against either a white wall or contrasted against deep rich colours.
Whichever printed wall art images is chosen the sleek style will compliment modern and contemporary interior design styles and invite family and friends to discuss the art works, which for many is a fundamental point of displaying art. Art works should be utilised rather than merely hung on a wall and forgotten about, they are part of the room's design and atmosphere to be shared and enjoyed by all who view them.

Contemporary Indian Art
Indian Contemporary art
Author: Namita Sibal
Targeted at Collectors
The Indian contemporary art market has been growing exponentially in the last few years. Not only in India, but even globally, Indian contemporary art is being recognized as amongst the best in the world.
The increasing disposable incomes among the Indian middle class, unattractive conventional investment options, extensive media coverage of art and more organized art galleries are some of the reasons behind this sudden popularity of Indian art even as an investment. Art has a creative appeal as it is a beautiful piece to decorate the house with. It has an appeal for the rationale since it is can be viewed as an investment and not just an extravagant expense.
The profile of the collector of art is also changing. The increase in the upper middle class disposable incomes, high risk taking appetite, more 'spending than saving' attitude is bringing more and more non-conventional retail investors (corporate/ salaried people) into its fold. The art collecting fraternity is getting increasingly scattered. So while, one may be a collector of art, not everyone he knows will be one. However, with the advent of the internet, people across the world are coming together to appreciate and buy art through on line art galleries.
Most online art galleries exploit the internet only to show case their extensive art collections for sale to a larger audience. However, when it comes to passing on efficiencies to collectors and artists both, they continue to follow the conventional brick & mortar model, with 33% and above commissions and payment terms ranging up to 60 days. With the advent of the internet and more efficient courier services along with efficient on line banking services there has come a need to make the art market more efficient as well. There is a need to revamp the existing market structure, and that is exactly what IndianArtCollectors has done.
IndianArtCollectors is an on line forum for collectors of art from across the world. The portal allows collectors to post their works to share with others. At the same time collectors of art can contact each other directly and discretely in case they want to transact in the secondary market through the in-built messaging system. IndianArtCollectors already has an extensive art collection with more than 1700 works and 700 odd registered collectors. It is a first of its kind web site, and introduces innovation into an industry that has failed to evolve itself despite the rapid changes in technology and target audience.
IndianArtCollectors offers the following services to collectors free of charge:
1. Share:
Collectors of art can display their art collection, as well as view what other collectors of Indian art across the world are collecting. All they need is a digital image of their artworks and they can post them online to share their works with other. With the fragmenting collector community, this forum is a delight for the lonely collectors to display art and share it with others.
2. Transact:
Most collectors are plagued by the concern of how easy would it be to sell their works in the secondary market. Most galleries charge a commission upwards of 15% on resale of an artwork, and that too can take several months. IndianArtCollectors allows collectors to display art and mark the art collections for sale with a "Willing to Part with" yellow flash. This invites other collectors to contact them through the in built messaging system and they can actually carry out a mutually agreeable transaction discretely without any intermediary costs. Today many collectors are using this option instead of bearing the high transaction cost with conventional galleries.
3. Acquire:
IndianArtCollectors now has artists joining the community and has an extensive art collection for sale. Just like collectors, artists too have membership to this community and can upload their works for sale at their own discretion and convenience. They even set their own prices and edit them from time to time. The prices listed on the website are inclusive of all taxes, shipping and handling charges, posing no hidden costs for the collector. The collector gets the benefit of lowered commissions at IndianArtCollectors and also receives an authenticity certificate signed by the artist himself for every artwork they acquire from the artist.
Through the above ways, IndianArtCollectors is redefining the Indian art market, making it more transparent, bringing people together and using the new economy's internet, courier and banking services to benefit both the collector and the artist community. IndianArtCollectors has become a one stop destination for all collectors of art, as it satisfies their needs for sharing with each other, transacting with each other and adding to their collection by acquiring artworks directly from the artists. Today IndianArtCollectors has become a vibrant community with one of the largest collections of Indian art on the worldwide web.

Why Buy Ethical Fashion
Why Buy Fairtrade Bags?
Author: Davinos Greeno
Why were the quintessentially English clothing company Mulberry selling African Bags? And what part do bottle tops play in the battle against Aids?
Bottle-top bags may sound like an idea straight from Blue Peter, but Mulberry's version is miles away from double-sided sticky tape and coat hangers. The bags, crafted in Africa from recycled wire and bottle tops are lined with luxurious Congo leather, contrasting perfectly with their eye-catching, deconstructed image. And these bags are not just the latest fashion accessory, but an inspired way of raising money for Action Aids HIV/AIDS campaign.
Mulberrys non-profit bags are the focus of their campaign to halt the rising tide of people infected with HIV/AIDS. The company hopes the bags, retailing at 99 pounds, could raise as much as 100,000 pounds. And just in case you find you have nothing to wear or your budget doesn't quite stretch to the bags, they have also brought out bottle top campaign T-shirts and key rings. Susan Mears of Action Aid is thrilled with the scheme, This is a dream come true project- the money will come in very, very useful.
DEATH SENTENCE
40 million people worldwide are infected with HIV/AIDS, and the majority of them are young: between 15 and 25. The International Aids conference in July warned that in 30 African countries average life expectancy by 2010 would be 27 years of age. Karen Stanecki whose branch compiled the report for US Aid, told The Guardian these levels have not been seen since the end of the 19th century. Many of those dying today from Aids are financial providers, whose deaths leave poor families destitute- 14 million children have lost one or both parents to Aids.
The greatest obstacle to controlling Aids is the stigma surrounding it. In many cases people with the disease are shunned. Prisca, HIV positive for twelve years, has lost her husband, two children and three siblings to AIDS related illness and has been ostracised for speaking out about the disease, Up to this very day, I dont speak to my sister. She says I have tarnished our family name, she told Action Aid. This attitude can obstruct education, the most effective way to prevent the rate of infection rising.
Uganda is one of the few countries to subdue its Aids epidemic. The mobilisation of communities and a willingness to confront the epidemic led to falling prevalence rate. This is largely due to 5,000 projects throughout the country tackling the problem. Educating women and girls is essential in cutting the rate of infection. Unfortunately girls are often removed from education to care for relatives with Aids. In the last 5 years the number of women and girls infected has risen by 40% according to Oxfam.
Cameron, the son of Mulberry chairman, Roger Saul, experienced Ugandas effective education strategies first hand while teaching sexual health education for Students Partnership Worldwide. Anxious to find ways to support the charity, he found inspiration on the arm of a village girl: a bottle-top bag. He believed, once Mulberry-fied, the bag could raise the profile of Aids awareness. The attraction of the bags is partly their novelty, which he hopes will get people asking questions - theyre a fun way to engage people with the serious issues of AIDS/HIV. His father, Roger, visited him in Uganda and was equally pleased to have found such an original way to help the 14,000 people who are infected everyday.
FASHION CONSCIENCE
Action Aid plan to spend the money in Kenya, looking after the 730,000 children who have been made orphans by Aids and the more then 2 million who are currently living with the disease. The charity has fifteen years experience of pioneering prevention and community based care. They believe the best ways to change peoples attitudes and counteract the secrecy and ignorance allowing HIV to gain so many new victims is through loca groups. They support them through training, resources and advice to ensure the people most affected by the disease are at the centre of developing effective responses to the epidemic. SPW will also receive some of the money to allow them to continue to train students to give sexual heath education.
In East Africa, where the bags are made, there is another reason to celebrate. Not only are the bags created from recycling wire and bottle-tops and so are environmentally friendly, but Action Aid pledges the workers who create the bags are both paid and treated fairly. Let's hope Mulberrys bags set a trend for fashion without victims.

With blue and white stripes, cute little buttons and tailored briefs, this bikini is sure to catch every sailor's eye!
Not only is 1950s tailoring always very flattering, but it is also hugely fashionable this season and for that reason you are unlikely to o far wrong with a 50s inspired bikini. The Seafolly Viva Mini tube top and hipster briefs are delightfully 50s with their polka dots and cheeky frills and will have you looking like a pin-up in no time. As well as polka dots, ruffles and frills are a great way of embracing the 50s look and for this the Seafolly Frill Me ruffle bikini is absolutely perfect.
Keeping things sleek, stylish and simple is also hot this Summer, so look out for one-colour bikinis with clever cuts and simple details. Hermès bags fashion show spring / summer 2010
Author: Anna Millman
Many new proposals signed Hermès Spring / Summer 2010. Are you curious to know what has produced
the inspiration of Jean Paul Gaultier? Then read on to discover all the news.
The parade of Hermès Spring / Summer 2010 was definitely one
of the most eagerly awaited by all those of the Paris Fashion Week. The word
Hermès rachiude all a wonderful world, which runs through the history of fashion
handbags giving us unsurpassed.
How can we forget in fact two of the most popular bags of
history, the Hermès Birkin and Kelly? Two scholarships that have changed
the way you think the stock market, no longer a mere accessory but an expression
of their personality.
Dedicated to two icons of fashion, entertainment and
history, like the mythical glamorous Grace Kelly and the icon Jane Birkin, they
have gone through two Hermes bags free of fashion and its ever-changing
cycles, becoming veritable fetish for all the (few) that if women can afford and
unattainable dream for the other (many).
In every collection Hermès repeats the two exchanges
that are more this French maison, in a look that is renewed from season to
season. The fashion show for spring-summer collection
2010 was devoted to tennis, sports chic for excellence,
so here's Kelly renew their look for the occasion.
Gaultier fact apply to the bag icon brand a
portaracchetta courts, transforming it into a sports bag and no longer just an
accessory pouches. Kelly, who can vote in our survey, is available in classic
shades quite like the white, blue and red.
But there are certainly more traditional versions of
Kelly, and especially more valuable, such as those in snakeskin and white sand.
The parade also sees the protagonists Mini Kelly and Clutch, the smallest of the
classic bag models dedicated to Princess Grace, in precious leathers like
alligator.
How could he fail then the
Birkin bag and the
other en of the Maison, which is revisited in a version I think of great effect.
Gaultier fact, the effect achieved with a "trompe l'oeil" that is drawing the
flap on the bag and the characteristic closure but in such a realistic way to
make it look good. But it lacks the model "posh", which perhaps we will soon see
the arm of Victoria Beckham, sand-colored crocodile leather.
But of course Hermes space to other exchanges. It aims for
the new collection especially on clutch, carried out as usual in precious
leathers like crocodile or calf leather, characterized by a particular closure
jewelry metal. The colors are pretty classic, ranging from white to black,
passing through dark red.

Self help tips on living a nicer life style.
Living a Happier Life – Use These Tips to Make it Possible
Author: Mark J Walters
We always wish happiness to each other at birthdays and on New Year’s Eve, but the reality is that this is not always easy to achieve. However, this does not mean that you should despair and consider it to be mission impossible. You have to keep in mind that this depends on you only – on your thoughts and actions. Here are some tips on living a happier life. They will work for you as long as you really want things to be this way.
Be positive and optimistic. You might consider this piece of advice on living a happier life to be way too obvious, but if you do not keep this basic rule you are simply doomed to be miserable all the time. Always believe in yourself and in your abilities. When you have difficulties or simply feel down, you should think of all the things you can be happy about. Do not dig too deeply. Having a home and family and friends who stand by you is something that many people can only dream of.
Socialize as often and as intensively as you possibly can. One of the great problems of the world we live in is that it makes us more introverted and less willing to trust and share with others. Try not to avoid being in the company of others and by staying at home all the time. Instead, try to meet new people and to maintain good relations with your existing acquaintances and friends. Go out more often and never miss an opportunity to have a quick chat with your colleagues at work.
Do all the fun things that you would normally put off. You should really find the time to enjoy all the small pleasures of life even if they do not always fit into your schedule. Life is not all about work, so try to have small treats that can really make you happy. Going to the movies, to the theater or to sports events from time to time is easy to fit in your schedule, enjoyable and relaxing. The same applies to spa treatments and massages. You should not deny yourself the pleasure of having a delicious dessert or a calorie-rich snack every now and then even if you are on a diet.
Create personal goals and dreams. This is one of the most essential tips on living a happier life. Knowing that your existence has a meaning and that you are working towards a goal always helps.
With a lifelong passion for health, I enjoy sharing my personal experiences with diet and exercise. I also enjoy reviewing products, enjoy my latest reviews on what you need to know about outdoor bamboo shades and bamboo window shades for your conservatory.

The meaning of the old fashioned nautical tatoo
Nautical Star tattoos the history, meaning and symbolism: a strange mix
Author: Chris Smith
The history, meaning and symbolism of nautical star tattoos is
a hotly debated topic. Today many different groups have
adopted the Nautical star tattoo as a symbol for their own
movement and they have all ascribed their own meaning and
history to the symbol. Thus has lead to a wide
disagreement as the the meaning of the tattoo.Historically
most everyone agrees that Sailors were the first people to get
nautical star tattoos. In fact the very word nautical
relates back to sailing. So this connection has been
pretty firmly established. Most people would agree the
sailors were a pretty superstitious group historically and
sailor lore abounds with superstitious and fantastical stories
of life and death and being lost at sea. Early on
sailors navigated by the stars at night and the north star
became the symbol for finding ones way home. Once you
know where the north star is you can point your ship in the
right direction to get home. So the star became a symbol
for finding ones way home or more symbolically even finding
ones path in life. Therefore many sailors would tattoo
nautical stars on their forearms as a good luck symbol in
hopes of returning home.
However their modern day meaning is a more debated topic.
Many believe that groups including gay and lesbians, punk
rockers and those in the military have adopted the nautical
star tattoo as a very important symbol. The diversity of
these three groups has lead many to argue the meaning of their
tattoos.
For the military the connection is pretty obviously point
back to the early sailors and the symbolism and meaning is the
same as the early sailors. Many military people get a
nautical star tattoo as a symbol for finding ones path home
safely. Of course this can also include more
symbolically just finding ones way in life.
Here is a quote we found from a member of the armed
services and his interpretation of the tattoo:
"I am in the United States Army, an MP who searched towns
and villages for Al Quida and insurgents. I was in Iraq for 1
year. I have a red and black nautical star on my wrist. The
reason I got it was because when I was out there, I felt it
was a guide to guide me home to my family safely. I got it so
that it would remind me that I am going to make it to see my
son grow up. I am not gay, it doesn't matter what you believe
it represents, it means something different for everyone. Out
in the desert, I would look up at the stars and think about
home. So anyone can think what they want to, that is what it
means to me. "
Punk rockers have also adopted this as a popular symbol to
have tattooed. The punk movement traces its history and
use of the nautical star tattoo back to Sailor Jerry.
Sailor Jerry is historically one one of the most famous tattoo
artists ever. He was well known for his innovative and
"cool" designs. Punks have taken this symbol and it has
very much the same meaning of finding one way in life.
Being the rugged individualists type Punks are drawing to the
symbolism of true north and finding one own unique way in
life. So the Nautical star has become a symbol for this.
You see many punk bands that have full sleeve tattoos
typically incorporate nautical star tattoos either on their
elbows or elsewhere.
The lesbian and gay connection is the one that does not
seem so obvious at first. Historically back in the
1940's and 50's when alternative lifestyles were not the norm
and often women had to hide their alternative choices they
would sport a hidden nautical star. Often they would get
the star tattoo done on the inside of their wrist where it
could easily be hidden by a watch during the day but shown off
in the evening when out on the town. Today many lesbians
where the nautical star tattoo to show their connection with
their early pioneering sisters. Here is a little
evidence to support my points.
"Here's the passage (with some pieces dropped) from "Boots
of Leather, Slippers of Gold: The History of a Lesbian
Community" by Elizabeth Lapovsky Kennedy and Madeilne D. Davis
copyright 1993 p. 189.
(talking about the 1940's and 1950's):
"...During this same time period, the cultural push to be
identified as lesbians- or at least different- all the time
was so powerful that it generated a new form of identification
among the tough bar lesbians: a star tattoo on the top of the
wrist, which was usually covered by a watch. This was the
first symbol of community identity that did not rely on
butch-fem imagery. We can trace this phenomenon back to an
evening of revelry in the late 1950's, when a few butches
trooped over to "Dirty Dick's" tattoo parlor on Chippewa
Street and had the tiny blue five-pointed star put on their
wrists. Later, some of the fems of this group also go the idea
one night and did it...The community views the tattoo as a
definite mark of identification..."the Buffalo police knew
[that] the people that had the stars on their wrist were
lesbians and they had their names and so forth. That it was an
identity thing with the gay community, with the lesbian
community". The fact that the star tattoo was created by those
who were firmly into roles, in fact by the group that was
considered the butchy butches and their fems, suggest that the
force to assert lesbian identity was strong enough to break
through the existing traditions of boldness based in butch-fem
roles. The stars presage the methods of identity created by
gay liberation. In fact, the mark has become something of a
tradition in local circles and has seen a revival since the
1970s."
This meaning of the symbol has of course created a lot of
problems and arguments among the other two groups of bearers
of nautical stars. Most puck and military people do not
want to have a nautical star that points back to anything from
the lesbian movement so many will say that there is no
connection there and this is false.
Here is a quote from another armed forces member about the
symbolism of the nautical star among the gay community:
"This "gay symbol" is a load of hooey that someone made up
VERY recently. The nautical star tattoo has been around nearly
as long as tattooing itself. The late Celts (or early Irish,
depending on your view of World History) were said to have
been the first to have the tattoos, although evidence of it
being used on ships in Spain has been found pre-dating the
Irish claim.
As a Marine, it's a very commonplace symbol amongst us if
we have been part of a Boat Raid company, red for port, green
for starboard on varying parts of the body. On ship, I saw
about a million different variations on the Sailors I was was
serving with, obviously harking back to the sailor roots."
Here is a quote from a punk rocker and his feelings about
the symbolism of the tattoo:
"what idiots..even the military boys dont know what it
really means....JUST SO YOU ALL KNOW!!!!!it was used by OLD
sailors.. and the symbol represents North on a Map ...and it
is the North Star the sailors would use it as a baring to get
home....you can find it on Really really old maps and old navy
vessels... Punk Rock.. well we use it because we can and
because Sailor Jerry made the coolest tattoos who started
putting them on everyone.. my grandfather even had one thus
being used as a traditional icon"
It just goes to show that when the same powerful symbol is
used over and over again over decades of time it can taken on
very different meanings for different groups. So all of
those that you see sporting a nautical star tattoo might not
all have the same interpretation of its symbolism.
So do you have a nautical star tattoo or think about
getting one in the future? Which meaning of the symbol
will you get the nautical star for? As long as you know
what the symbolism behind the star is for and you have gotten
it for the right reason to either support the lesbian movement
or as a symbol to finding your way!

The eco friendly sustainable fashion approach.
I have recently been spending time with my mother who lives on the island of Mallorca and she works on a cahrity basis for a little store on a Saturday helping a charity called Victorias animal santurary which helps stray animals on the island. They sell clothes and household items given to them by the local community.i was supprised at the quality of fashion garments lingering hidden beneath a huge ammount of non siutable clothes. However this is what makes charity shopping so much more interesting than the normal high street approach.
I have found myself a new and interesting wardrobe made up over a preoid of time, which has organically grown into a chic bohemian warderobe.

Designers Profile-The early years.
Designing...How did you get started?
I can remember when in junior school if I painted or draw a picture. They would always end up on the walls of the corridor's and classrooms.I never draw just one picture I liked to draw a series based on colour, texture and theme.I was inspired by the great masters that I saw in Art galleries and books.
My mother went to Art college and I guess I was born with Artist genes.
I continued my desire to create by making numerous amounts of Clothes for my Cindy doll's and then followed this by making my own clothes.
I asked my mother to show me how to pattern cut when I was aged 5 years and have created clothes ever since.
The fashion direction which my career has taken can be affiliated to my parents as my mother was a former Fashion designer before she married my father. My father was the son of a statesman and a QC and therefore always dressed smartly and never dressed down.My fathers style of dress was accentually English aristocratic and classic.
I love to design with elements of classic and traditional bringing, colour shape and detail into a contemporary setting.
Embellishing and accessorising the classic's in dressing has always influenced my work.Creating designs with longitude and longevity has always been a strong influentual in my design work.
My etsy site is relatively new as I am just returning to work after an extended maternity leave. My daughter is now in nursery school so I am wishing to re start, relaunch my former fashion house.

Woodstock 69
This year is the 40Th commemorative year for the iconic hippy music festival.500,000 people visited the 3 day event in up state New York.20 miles of traffic jams,so busy it was finally given a disaster zone status by local officals in its final day.Two people died and two babies were born.A tribute double vinyl album was produced. Is it available on CD or DVD I ask?
It should be if it isn't it will be.
Janis Joplin,Jimi Hendrix,Joe Cocker,The Who,Jefferson Airplane,Creedance clear water revival( a favorite of mine, very hippy trance).600 acres of land was set out for the epic music festival.Food and water ran out sanitation facilities failed. The hippy commune tribe for peace and love prevailed.
Add woodstock hippy style to your wardrobe.Add flowers, patch work tote bags and country knits, create the stlye from excisting wardrobe pieces.
It should be if it isn't it will be.

Penny pinching the new cool.
In a world of Eco conscious living saving the pennies is becoming the new cool.Living the slow pace idyll live style which is optimised on the television with programmes like River Cottage. The posh presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall discussing war time rationing in a world of over weight eaters. It has to be the right way forward.Embracing the Eco life style makes sense.

Fashion mood boards for design.
Firstly it is useful to create images and sketches to create a cohesive collection.Having many sketch books in different sizes is always a great way of understanding a fashion direction that inspires the fashion industry.
A story board for fashion is usually A2 size, they can be bigger or smaller than this.
As you build up your boards they should express the essense of the theme and concepts of your ideas.Taking magazine images and mounting them onto a board connects your ideas with marketable products already in production and in the stores.
As key ideas become clear on these boards the job of designing a collection becomes much simplier to achieve.
Story boards can be created for interia designs and also for movies and plays.
There is a number of websites that have applications that you can use to create storyboards.
If you have a wedding or christening to go to you could cut out dresses, shoes and outer garments and place them on a board, better still a small sketch book,so you can shop with a clearer idea for what you would like to purchase.
